Developing and Guiding an Effective Board of Directors

Does your organization struggle with the balance between governance and staff/volunteers? Are there misunderstandings in terms of expectations and workload? Do you find some board members are unengaged while others are micro-managing? This workshop, presented by Susan Weinrich of New York Council of Nonprofits, Inc. (NYCON), defines roles and responsibilities of board members, executive directors, staff and volunteers to build understanding and partnerships that further the organizational goals. The workshop includes legal and fiduciary responsibilities, policy and monitoring functions; accountability; effectively balancing responsible board oversight with day to day staffing and operational roles; and building a motivated and engaged board of directors.
The workshop is sponsored by Lakes to Locks Passage, a nonprofit organization that manages a scenic byway from New York’s Capital Region to the Canadian border– with a mission to inspire people to discover, honor, celebrate and share the heritage and stories that connect our lives and to foster vibrant communities for future generations.
The workshop is $15 per person, payable by cash or check, and includes lunch and materials. Pre-Registration is required.
