Learn more about the history of NYS Route 9 by visiting the exhibit prepared by the Chapman Museum at the Adirondack Outlet Mall, the former site of the Halfway House.
At the intersection of Route 9 and 149, near the present-day Adirondack Outlet Malls, was the Halfway House. This marked the halfway point between Glens Falls and Lake George. Stagecoaches would stop here daily to get something to eat or drink, rest their horses, or spend the night.
Today, this section of NYS Route 9 is 18.58 miles, from Glens Falls, through Queensbury and to Lake George Village. It starts at an intersection with US 9 and NY32 in Glens Falls and ends at a junction with US 9 and NY9N in Lake George.
