Steam Mill Point
This is the location of the grounding and sinking of the Champlain II, a passenger steamer ferry. The boat went aground under Captain John Eldredge, who was under the influence of morphine at the time to treat his gout. All of the passengers safely disembarked the vessel before its eventual sinking. It is now a Lake Champlain Underwater Historic Preservation site, and can be viewed by divers.
