Rensselaer County Historical Society

The Rensselaer County Historical Society (RCHS) is a museum and research library devoted to connecting local history and heritage with contemporary life.

RCHS owns two 19th century townhouse buildings, the National Register listed Hart-Cluett House (H-CH) and its Carriage House, serving as a house museum, and the adjacent Carr Building, housing a research library, galleries, meeting spaces, extensive collections storage space, and staff offices.

RCHS is the largest collecting institution in Rensselaer county and has traditionally worked with researchers, genealogists, writers, architects, historic preservationists, urbanists, designers, academics, and history lovers along with students and teachers. Season and Hours Open
Thursdays – Saturday Noon to 5pm February – December 23. Also open by appointment.
