CIME Haut-Richelieu, mont Saint-Gregoire
Rising above the flat agricultural land that surrounds the Richelieu River, is mont Saint-Grégoire, one of the monteregian hills that are characteristic of the region’s landscape. This intrusion was formed 125 millions years ago as hot magma pushed its way into the earth’s crust. Years of erosion have allowed the igneous rocks massif to become exposed. Nowadays, mont Saint-Grégoire is recognized for the richness of its natural environment and its magnificent panorama. Recreational Opportunities
CIME Haut-Richelieu owns part of mont Saint-Grégoire and has developed hiking trails that lead to the top of the hill. The center is open year round. In the winter, it is possible to snowshoe when there is enough snow. CIME Haut-Richelieu, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to environmental protection and natural science education.
