Lock C-9
Lock C-9 on the Champlain Canal is located in the town of Smith’s Basin, six miles from Lock C-8. It is very similar to the other locks on this stretch of the canal; it is in the quiet countryside, which makes it a beautiful place to stop and enjoy some solitude. There is docking on both the upper and lower side of the lock, with picnic tables located on the upper side. The lower side has a very nice wooden dock with old fashion street lights. The Lockmaster can be reached by VHF Radio channel 13 or by phone at (518) 747-6021 Services Offered
Tie-ups available along the northwest and southwest terminal walls. North of C-9 is Fort Ann which has a small floating dock on the east shore, south of the Clay Hill Road bridge which allows boaters to tie up and explore. Fort Ann offers food, lodging, antique shops and more. Visit the old Fort Ann Lock or bike along the Canalway Trail. Fishing
