Lock C-5
Lock C-5 is just north of Schuylerville on the Hudson River and 14.3 miles from Lock C-4. This lock is unusual as it is the site of two locks, the current Champlain Canal Lock 5 (Hudson River) and a junction lock that once connected the modern Champlain Canal and the former Champlain Canal which ran through the heart of Schuylerville. The junction lock no longer operates but is worth a look if you are interested in the canal’s history. Services Offered
Lock C-5 Canal Park. View the remains of an old lock and wander through the powerhouse which is truly a mini-museum with restored equipment, photographs, and memorabilia. A tour boat, offering canal rides, operates from the end of the northwest terminal wall. Potable water, Restrooms, Picnicking

Comments
When passing through, be sure to visit Hudson Crossing Park, centered on the Lock C5 island. See the Play Garden, picnic in the pavilion, admire a replica of the old Locketender’s Shanty, and walk the trails to the restored Dix Bridge (a bike, snowmobile, and pedestrian crossing over the Hudson to Washington County). Include a stroll on the Riverwalk Sensory Trail to hear more about the history and ecology of the park using hand cranked audio boxes.
