Ringing In Changes
In 1759, losses elsewhere in New France forced the French to abandon Fort Ticonderoga.

The British attack on Fort Ticonderoga in 1758 ended with devastation. The French, outnumbered 4 to 1, were able to defend the fort against the British attack. Losses elsewhere in New France caused the French to abandon the fort the next year, destroying it as they left. This eliminated the need to finish the constructure of Fort George in Lake George.
