On the Road to Lake George

The first tourists arrived on Lake George shortly after the Champlain Canal was complete. They could catch a steamship from New York City and board a canal sloop that carried them through the Champlain and Feeder Canal to Lake George.  In 1869, the arrival of a railroad spur to Glens Falls made Lake George more accessible.
