Kings Bay
Kings Bay is named after Joseph King, who settled here in 1802 and kept a store. A wharf was built by C.K. Averill in the bay and a limestone quarry was opened in 1842 until it closed in 1850. The limestone went to Fort Montgomery, Plattsburgh Breakwater, and the canal at Chambly. The fleet of Commodore McDonough is said to have waited here briefly before the Battle of Plattsburgh Bay. It was also called Chazy Bay and it receives the outflow of the Great Chazy River. FEES No
