Essex Inn on the Adirondack Coast

The Essex Inn on the Adirondack Coast has undergone a total renovation that has transformed this nearly 200-year old landmark into the crown jewel of the Lake Champlain region. In the Spring of 2011, the Inn’s seven beautifully refurbished rooms – five of which are suites –began welcoming guests. Lodging Style And Amenities
The historic Essex Inn on the Adirondack Coast offers the perfect setting to enjoy the four-season beauty of the Champlain Valley and the Adirondacks. Each of the seven rooms is equipped with Wi-Fi internet access, a flat screen television and an iPod docking station. The rooms also have completely new and private bathrooms equipped with luxurious products.

Opening in the late spring, William Gilliland’s Tavern – designed & handcrafted by talented Adirondack artisans – will offer fireside dining, as will the adjoining room, while the garden patio and front porch will provide additional seating in the summer and shoulder seasons.

Two private dining rooms – one, just off the Main Street entrance , the other, a charming board room framed by a 19th Century Dutch fireplace — both offer a special setting for rehearsal dinners and corporate retreats.

What Is Distinctive And Authentic To The Character Of The Region
The Essex Inn on the Adirondack Coast has operated almost continuously since 1812, when Essex was a thriving town on the shores of Lake Champlain. Once the expressway between Montreal and New York City, the Lake was the scene of battles fought by Gentleman Jonny Burgoyne, Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold that forged our country’s independence.

More than two centuries later, beginning in the spring of 2010, the Inn has undergone a top-to-bottom renovation with new electrical and heating systems, plumbing , totally refurbished sleeping rooms, and a state-of-the art commercial kitchen. Today the Inn offers 21st Century comfort and amenities in a charming 19th Century setting.

The Inn sits on the main street of Essex, one block from the ferry dock and the waters of Lake Champlain.
