Chain Hoist Site, Boquet River

On the north shore at the mouth of the Boquet River was an interesting chain hoist to help load the canal boats with pulp wood. There is a rare photo of this device in the collection of the Willsboro Heritage Society. When filled with pulp wood, a steamer would stop and hook the loaded canal barges onto a long tow and pull them to other paper mills on or near the lake.
