Chubbs Dock Landing

This was once a location of busy lake commerce. There were at least three saw mills on the stream in 1866. Along here are many islands formed of spoils from dredging: One is Maple Bend Island. Seven other of these spoil-formed islands total some 87 acres and are shown on navigation charts. In 2012, the NYS DEC added 156 acres along this area to the “forever wild” Forest Preserve.
