Frisbie Point

Frisbie Point is part of a special Willsboro Point historic district called the Bluestone Historic District along with the Clark Quarry on Ligonier Point on the east side of the Point. On Frisbie Point there is still a marine railway and other buildings dating from the quarry and kilns at this site. Both the quarry and kilns were active into 1900s, but not for long as much of the market for burned lime and this particular limestone used for foundation stone had been replaced by other materials. Most of the stone from this quarry was burned for lime that was sold as far away as NYC and New Jersey. Most of the stone produced was rubble stone used for docks and fill and backing for bulkheads and other marine construction. A lot of Frisbie quarry stone went into the large breakwater in Burlington.
