Mallery Street Mural

In 2011, work began on a mural on the west wall of 8 Mallery St. in Corinth, NY. Artist Sher Millis had been forming the idea of a community mural depicting the rolling scenes of the Upper Hudson River since 2007, and the opportunity presented itself when a need arose to beautify the environment surrounding a historic barn turned ice cream shop and Studio 8, a local salon and summer gathering place. A formal proposal was presented to the Town, Village, Corinth Merchants Association, Corinth Central School District. The Town, local businesses and residents paid for the materials that were all purchased locally, and Sher agreed to donate her time. The school board gave Sher permission to run a mini-course, and fourteen middle school students signed up for the project, which began in May 2011. Today you can see the rolling landscape of the Upper Hudson River next to the Grand Union Supermarket in downtown Corinth. Don’t Miss This When Visiting
