Rogers Island Visitors Center

Visit Rogers Island at Fort Edward and explore the story of Native Americans and their trade with European settlers. Learn about Fort Edward, the largest British military fortification and the 3rd largest city in colonial American, during the French & Indian War. Take a peek into the sutler’s store that supplied goods for the thousands of soldiers and support personnel that were stationed here and experience life in a soldier’s hut..

Rogers Island was the base camp for Major Robert Rogers and more than 400 of his rangers from 1756-1759 during the height of the French & Indian War. It was here, in October of 1757, that Rogers wrote down his now famous “Ranging Rules”. The rules are the basis of today’s military “Standing Orders” making Rogers Island the birthplace of the U.S. Army Rangers. Season and Hours Open
June, July, August open daily 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM / May and September open Wed. – Fri. 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Off season open by appointment only.
Don’t Miss This When Visiting
While in the Fort Edward area also plan to visit the Old Fort House Museum located at 29 Broadway. The OFHM consists of several historic buildings in addition to the 1772 Old Fort House.
