Lock Nos. 1 and 2 at the Lachine Canal National Historic Site

Located right in the heart of Montreal, the Lachine Canal runs 14.5 km from the Old Port to Lake Saint-Louis. Much more than an inland waterway, the canal is an accessible urban park that leads you through the city’s must-see attractions, breathtaking views of the skyline and more than 150 years of industrial and navigational history.

The eastern entry point to the Lachine Canal is situated in the Old Port of Montreal, an area known for its European charm and appeal. Wander along Old Montreal’s cobblestone streets and browse in the neighbourhood’s numerous boutiques and art galleries. Experience unparalleled dining and cuisine at the local bistros and restaurants or enjoy a glass of wine on Place Jacques-Cartier’s pleasant patios, where street performers add music to the mix. End the evening on a high note by attending a major event at downtown Montreal’s Place des Festivals – just an easy metro ride away. Services Offered
During the operating season, lockage services are offered to boaters navigating the Lachine Canal. Day and night docking is also available at the Parks Canada wharfs located upstream from Lock No. 1 in Old Montreal.

Season And Hours Open
Every year, from mid-May to mid-October. Visit the Parks Canada Website for the detailed Hours of Operation.
